等身大のこの頭像のモデルや製作地は分かっていません。作品に見られる高度な技、革新的な技術、そして非常に高価な銅合金が使用されていることから、モデルは国王または貴族と思われます。ぽっかりと空いた黒い目の部分には、古代中近東美術に特徴的な対照的な色の象嵌細工の目が埋め込まれていたと考えられます。上品になでつけられた顎髭と、形よく整えられた口髭、そして布地のタ ーバンの曲線や斜線などが、腐食した銅の表面下に今でも見てとれます。
