小さいながらも驚くべき力強さと威厳を備えた迫力ある小像は、金属彫刻の草創期に失蝋法(ロスト・ワックス法)で鋳造されたものです。イランとメソポタミアの高原地域に見られる、つま先がそり上がったブーツを履いた生き生きとした男性像で、ほぼ同じ様相の一対のひとつです。頭のアイベックス(ヤギ 科の動物)の角と、肩にまとった猛禽類の羽によってさらにその力強さが強調されています。イランの原エラム期の美術特有の、人間と動物が融合した姿は、超自然の世界とシ ャーマニズム的な信仰を表すと考えられています。
