坐鋪八景 台子の夜雨

茶釜で静かに沸くお湯の音に遊女がうとうとしている夏の室内の情景を表したこの心温まる場面は、春信の「座敷八景」のひとつです。中国と日本の絵画において重要な画題である瀟湘八景のうちの「瀟湘夜雨」を見立てており、瀟湘八景の山水画に見られる独特の夏の雰囲気が江戸の遊郭の室内に再現されています。春信は、異なる色の版を重ね刷りするのではなく、顔料を混ぜ合わせて微妙な色調を作り出す独自の作風で知られています。
