翠竹雙禽図巻

宋時代の第八代皇帝だった徽宗帝は、宋の歴代の皇帝の中で最も芸術に長けていました。「翠竹雙禽図巻」は徽宗帝の画院で取り入れられた写実的な花鳥画の代表作です。自然の模写または詩を題材にしたものかを問わず、徽宗帝は直接的な描写ではなく、主題の心を捉えることを重視しました。この作品では、細かく観察された小鳥がまるで生きているかのようであり、目に置かれた漆がその印象をさらに強めています。
