サン・マルコ広場
18世紀ヴェニスの最も著名な風景画家だったカナレットは、同市を訪れたイギリス人に特に好まれました。この素晴らしく斬新で保存状態のよい作品は、有名なサン・マルコ広場を描いたものです。鐘楼の窓は実際の数より少なく描かれており、旗竿も丈が長すぎますが、それ以外には広場の光景が忠実に描かれています。ゆるく不規則な絵具の塗り方と、明るい色彩から、1720年代末の作品と考えられています。
