ストロー

繊細にねじられた針金、金属の打ち出し細工、そしてニエロ象嵌の図像による豊かな装飾が施されたこの一式の祭具は、教会のミサで使われたものでした。これらはパンを乗せる聖皿、ぶどう酒を入れて飲む聖杯とストローです。ストローは2本一組で使われることが普通で、キリストの血に聖変化したぶどう酒をこぼすのを防ぐために使われることがありました。聖杯と聖皿には、キリストの生涯の場面が、それを予知したとされる旧約聖書の出来事と対を成して描かれています。12人の使徒の肖像が聖杯の胴を飾り、聖皿ではこれらの作品のあったフライブルク・イム・ブライスガウ近くの修道院の守護聖人である聖トゥル ートペルトの肖像が、最上部の円の中のキリス トの反対側に目立つように描かれています。
