「藤」ダイニング・ルーム

フランスのアール・ヌーボー時代のインテリアで唯一完全な姿でアメリカの美術館に展示されているこのダイニング・ルームは、パリ在住の技師オーギュスト・ラトーのアパートの内装を再現したものです。デザインの監修を担当したのは、陶芸から絵画及び室内装飾の分野へ転向したレヴィ=デュルメルでした。アパートの部屋はそれぞれ特定のテーマに沿ってデザインされ、ダイニング・ルームは歓迎のシンボルである藤を主題としています。壁画には藤の花咲く風景に鳥が描かれ、壁のクルミ材の化粧板には紫色の花が象嵌されています。この他にも藤の花がクルミ材の調度品に彫刻され、革張りの椅子に刻印されています。ブロンズと雪花石こうのランプが藤の蔓を思わせ、カーペットの模様には花びらが織り込まれています。
