성모자와 천사들
피렌체 안토니오 로셀리노는 미노 다 피에솔레와 데시데리오 다 세티냐노를 포함하여 그의 세대에서 가장 재능이 뛰어난 대리석 조각가들 중 한 명이었습니다. 이 감각적인 부조는 개인적인 예배를 위한 것으로 그의 초기 작품입니다. 성모가 소용돌이꼴 팔걸이를 고부조한 화려한 성좌에 앉아 있습니다. 성모와 팔에 안긴 아기 그리스도는 이상하게도 가라앉아 보이는데 아마 그리스도가 앞으로 겪게 될 고난을 생각하는 것 같습니다. 성모의 왼손이 보호적으로 어루만지는 동작은 특히 애절합니다. 주요 인물들은 풍부하고 다양한 표면적 내용(천사 날개의 소용돌이치는 동요, 수평으로 부풀어 오른 구름, 장신된 보좌, 그리고 구석구석 도금된 부분)을 배경으로 돋보입니다.
