에피메네스 화살을 검사하는 살수
기원전 6세기 말 그리스 미술가들은 다양한 소재를 사용하여 움직이는 인체를 표현하였습니다. 조각 분야에서는 청동 주조기술이 발달하여 종래의 석상에서 가능했던 것보다 더 큰 규모의 역동적인 인물상을 제작할 수 있었습니다. 도기화 분야에서는 적회식 기법이 개발되었기 때문에 화가들은 도기 표면을 자유로운 필선으로 장식할 수 있었습니다. 그리고 두께가 2.5cm 이하인 경질석을 사용하여 이 작품을 제작한 보석 상감 공예가는 화살이 곧은지를 검사하는 청년의 유연한 자세, 잔물결과 같은 근육, 아름답게 정리된 모발을 묘사하였습니다.
