사자 형상의 잔

사자의 상반신 형상을 한 이 우아한술잔은 아케메네스 왕조 시대 금세공품 중 걸작품입니다. 이런 유형의 그릇은 왕가의 제례 의식용으로 사용되었으며, 오래전부터 귀금속으로 술잔을 제작했던 전통을 반영하였습니다. 으르렁거리는 사자의 야수성을 관습에 따라 장식적으로 표현한 것은 아케메네스 양식의 전형적인 특징입니다. 이 그릇을 만들기 위해 여러 조각의 금속을 연결 부위가 보이지 않게 경납땜으로 연결했으며, 이는 당시의 뛰어난 기술을 말해 줍니다. 약41.2m 길이의 꼬인 철사는 44개의 짝수 줄로 이루어진 그릇의 상부 띠를 장식하고, 사자 입의 위쪽은 작은 갈비 형상을 이루고 있습니다.
