용화문 태피스트리

이 비단 태피스트리의 모티브는 개별적으로는 거의 변하지 않고 창의적으로 재조합되는 전형적인 중앙아시아의 장식양식입니다. 긴 코와 꼬리가 다리에 걸린 형태의 용 형상은 몽고의 쿠빌라이 칸이 1271년 창시한 원 왕조 시대까지 중앙아시아에 존속했던 당 왕조의 전통적인 문양입니다. 꽃 문양에 용을 배치한 구도는 필시 중앙아시아에서 창안되었을 것입니다. 찬란한 색채와 생동감 있는 용의 묘사 도한 이 지역 태피스트리의 특징이며, 이 태피스트리는 화려한 직물 의복으로 유명한 위구르족이 제작했을 것으로 추정됩니다.
