시인, 서예가 겸 다재다능한 선승이었던황정견은 서도는 즉흥적으로 자기를 표현하는 “마음의 그림”이어야 한다고 믿었습니다. 거의 1200자가 쓰여진 이두루마리는 초서체 걸작품이며, 경쟁 관계에 있던 두 관리에 관한 내용입니다. 염파는 걸출한 장군이었고 인상여는 능란한 전략가였습니다. 황정견은 인상여의 발언으로 갑자기 글을 맺습니다. “두 마리의 호랑이가 싸울 때 한 마리는 죽어야 한다. 나는 사적인 원한보다 국가의 운명을 우선시하여 행동한다.” 황정견의 글을 송대의 정치적 내분이라는 맥락에 비추어 읽으면 이는 당파심에 대한 강한 비난이 되며 이로 인해 그는 1094년에 유배를 당합니다.
