백자 달항아리

조선 시대(1392–1910년) 후반기에 제작된 백자의 독특한 유형인 달항아리는 둥근 달을 연상시키는 형태로 말미암아 이같이 불려지며 대개 두 개의 반달형 점토 그릇을 합해서 만듭니다. 따라서 이음새가 드러나기도 하지만 전체적으로 유기적인 형태를 취합니다. 소성 시 우연히 얻어진 유약의 복숭아색은 이 백자의 매력을 배가시킵니다. 자기는 18세기에 전세계적으로 제작되었지만 이러한 유형의 백자 달항아리는 한국 특유의 것입니다.
