가을의 리듬(넘버 30)
1945년 폴록과 아내인 화가 리 크래스너는 뉴욕 주 이스트 햄튼 시 스프링스 지구의 작은 집으로 이사하였습니다. 폴록은 그 후 몇 년간 집에 딸린 헛간에서 고립된 상태로 작업하면서 자신만의 드리핑 기법을 개발하기 시작하였습니다. 간단한 나무막대 또는 페인트를 젓는 데 사용하는 막대, 가정용 에나멜 도료를 사용하고 때로는 페인트 통에서 페인트를 바로 떨어뜨리는 기법을 통해 폴록은 서예를 연상시키는 색의 선을 바닥에 깔아 놓은 캔버스 천에 직접 표현하였습니다. 폴록의 전형적인 드립 기법을 사용한 대작 중 하나인 가을의 리듬은 폴록이 불의의 사고로 사망한 다음 해에 메트로폴리탄 박물관이 크래스너로부터 매입하였습니다.
