Кувшин для вина, украшенный изображением павловний и хризантем

Этот кувшин, предположительно, принадлежал влиятельному генералу Тоётоми Хидэёси (1536–1598 гг.), объединившему Японию в 1590-х гг. Его мавзолей в храме Кодайдзи был покрыт лаком, произведённым в мастерской Коами, и украшен орнаментом из осенних цветов и фамильного герба Тоётоми. Этот сосуд выполнен в манере, позднее ставшей известной как «стиль Кодайдзи» (сочетание черного лака с роскошным золотым орнаментом). В нем великолепно сочетаются два узора, радикально отличающиеся по цвету, ритмичности и мотиву. Художники того времени часто обращались к такому приёму не только в лаке, но и в керамике и текстиле.
