국동문 주전자

1590년대 일본을 통일했던 도요토미히데요(1536–1598년)는 호화로운 것을 좋아했던 강력한 통치자였으며 실제로 이 주전자를 사용했을 가능성이 있습니다. 그의 묘가 있는 고다이지에는 코아미 공방에서 제작한 칠기 가구가 비치되어 있는데, 이러한 칠기에는 세밀하게 묘사된 가을 풀과 도요토미 가문 문장이 그려져 있습니다. 이 주전자는 후에 고다이지 양식(화려한 금장식 흑칠기를 지칭)으로 알려지는 기법으로 디자인되었으며, 색채, 리듬, 모티프가 전혀 다른 두 가지 패턴이 놀라운 대조를 이루고 있습니다. 당시 칠기뿐 아니라 도기 및 염직 분야에서 이러한 장식 유형이 특히 선호되었습니다.
