Description

The "hundred antiques" decorative pattern, which included antiques, vessels, and scholar's accessories and carried auspicious meaning, became popular in China from the seventeenth century onward, appearing in all manner of decorative arts. Unlike the Korean ch'aekkori screens, books did not figure as prominently in the ensemble, nor did the "hundred antiques" theme emerge as a major genre in painting.
