Cape

1904
Not on view
This is an extraordinarily grand infant's garment which was probably made for a special occasion in which the baby would have been presented, such as a baptism or family occasion. The cape is voluminous in size and is heavily padded for warmth. The double insulation indicates that the baby would have been taken outside wearing this, perhaps in a carriage.
