Chasuble and maniple

Italian or French

Not on view

This tabard-like Chasuble and matching towel-evoking Maniple, made for a Roman Catholic priest to wear while officiating church services, is in magnificent condition. Its tailor matched the bright floral of its very fine figurative woven silk to glorious effect, keeping the pattern symmetrical across panels and using glittering, gilded, woven ribbon throughout. The rich blue damask lining is also original.
