Dressing gown

1915–20
Not on view
This robe is an article of clothing that would have been worn in the morning before formally dressing for the day. The garment is a beautiful example of the importance of being properly attired at all times, even before daily activities began. Made of the finest cotton with hand-sewn details, the robe has a sense of luxury and femininity enhanced by the plentitude of finely crafted ruffles, and the drapery over the arms.
