Mosaic Panel
Designed by Louis C. Tiffany American

This panel is the prototype for the repeated mosaic panels that served as the decorative frieze for the entrance hall of the house at 1 East Sixty-Sixth Street, completely designed by Louis C. Tiffany for his most important patrons, Louisine and Henry Osborne Havemeyer. The final panels varied from this prototype in its overall proportions, the introduction of gold foil-backed tesserae in the center of the white blossoms to create greater depth and contrast, and the larger size blue tesserae at the bottom.
