Tazza
French, Saint-Porchaire or Paris
This cup’s shape can be traced to Italy, where goblets in glass or precious metal with similarly wide, shallow bowls were used to serve wine or sweetmeats. Evidence of the technical difficulty of fashioning Saint-Porchaire ware is present on the bowl, where the pattern does not always join seamlessly. The interior features the emblem of Henri II (ruled 1547–59) surrounded by the collar of the Ordre de Saint-Michel.
