Chocolate Pot
Edward Winslow American
Chocolate pots are distinguished by a small hole in the lid where a stirring rod could be inserted while the cover remained closed, keeping the contents warm. The removable acorn finial, attached by a chain, provides the opening. The Hutchinson arms engraved on the side are probably those of Thomas Hutchinson, a Boston merchant and member of the Massachusetts legislature.
