Glass two-handled bottle

Roman

Not on view

Translucent deep turquoise green; handles and trail in opaque brick red.

Rounded rim folded out, down, round, and in; broad, horizontal mouth; short, cylindrical neck, aslant to body; narrow, slightly pushed-in shoulder; squat, globular body; round bottom, with pontil scar; two delicate strap handles applied to top of body over trail, drawn upward and outward, then turned and trailed onto rim and over top of mouth, with one pressed flat into a small, outward-slanting thumb rest.

Single trail wound as an irregular spiral around upper body; another trail forms a partial circle around the bottom.

One large chip in rim and mouth, replaced with fill; many bubble, some large and round, and a few black impurities; pitting, patches of creamy weathering and iridescence.
