[Carte-de-visite Album of Central Park Views]
Brand new in the 1860s, New York’s Central Park attracted photographers, painters, and printmakers in pursuit of capturing its picturesque blend of architecture and the natural landscape. This unique album juxtaposes charming Gilded Age works on paper by the painter and author Ambrose Jackson with earlier photographic views of the park. The result is a multi-year, multimedia tour of the scenic sites of the vast urban oasis.
