Milliken, William M. "Byzantine Jewelry and Associated Pieces ." Bulletin of the Cleveland Museum of Art vol. 34 (1947). pp. 166-175, ill., p. 171 shows an ivory pyxis with accession no. 46.261, of similar shape and etchings, with gold mountings. It is classified as Byzantine, VI century and presumably found in Syria.
