Beads from a Necklace
Cloisonné enamel designs were made by attaching flattened gold wire to a gold surface, creating separate compartments. Into each compartment, a paste of powdered enamel was inserted. The object was then fired in a kiln, vitrifying the paste and giving it a jewellike character. The enameled cartouches on these beads contain Arabic inscriptions saying "Glory is God’s alone."
