Bottle
Not on view
Although the neck on this piece has been restored, the overall shape suggests a variation of the Ottoman sürahi, or water bottle. The vitreous glaze is somewhat weathered and pitted, and the floral blossoms set in medallions are drawn in the loose, freehand style that succeeded the more tightly controlled designs of early sixteenth-century Iznik blue-and-white wares.
