(To these two married persons, Johannes Lehmann and his wedded wife Catharina, born Risser, a daughter was born, namely Elisabeth Lehmann [who] was born into this world in the year of Our Lord 1765, on the 27th of March at 2:30 in the morning under the sign of Gemini. God give grace, power and strength that this Elisabeth may grow up in [pious] fear to the glory and praise of the Lord, and that she may partake with great eagerness of the rational pure milk [of the Word] [and] seek the primal healing of the soul; after confession of faith and acknowledgement of her sins in [a spirit of] true repentence, she was brought to the spiritual re-birth of holy baptism and baptised by Johannes Nissele, preacher and servant of the Word, according to the command of Christ, Matt. 28, 19 and made a member in God's covenant of grace. The said Elisabeth was received as a member into the fellowhsip of the righteous through the washing of regeneration and the renewing of the Holy Spirit, as St. Paul teaches, Titus 3-5-7 and was accepted as a sister on the 21st day of Nov. 1784 and through true belief in Our Saviour Jesus Christ has been installed as heir to the so dearly bought [earned] rewards: heavenly joys and eternal blessedness. Therefore, forget not how the apostle Paul in Collossians I, v. 12, 14 describes our duty. Giving thanks unto the Father which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light, etc. The said Elisabeth Lehmann was born and baptised in America, in the province of Pennsylvania in Lancaster County, Mountjoy township. Scarcely are we born ere it is only a shortly measured step from our first step in life to the cool grave of earth. Ah how our strength dwindles with every second and with each year we are readier for the bier of death. And who knows in which hour the last voice will awaken us, since God has never discovered it to the soul. Whoso sets his house well in order will go out of the world with joy. He who, on the contrary, has not assurance, is ever afraid of death. [written] by Henrich Dulhauer.)
