Scarab Inscribed with Hieriglyphs and Figure of Maat
Third Intermediate Period ?
The underside of this scarab shows a seated figure of the goddess Maat, possibly holding an ostrich feather on her knees. Below is the hieroglyph for gold (nub) and above is the sun disk of Re. The signs nefer and ka are placed behind her back.
Even though these signs combined can be read as the throne names of Amenhotep III (Nebmaatre) of Dynasty 18 and Shabaka (Neferkare) of Dynasty 25, it is unlikely this composition refers to these kings because they form corrupt versions of the names.
