Page of book containing 185 leaves with a collection of lithographs, aquatints, engravings, and other media, with ornamental designs published by Fleury Chavant in Paris, part of the publication "Guide du Dessinateur de l'industrie: une macédoine de dessins variés , tels que fleurs, ornemens, etc. ... Ouvrage destiné aux fabricants et dessinateurs de soieries... et Papiers Peints..." This plate contains a textile design made up of paisley shapes, likely imspired on Indian calicoes. The design consists of a large rosette in the center, with petaloids filled with thin garlands with semi-abstract flowers and leaves, upon which stands a paisley leaf rendered with thin, horizontal, black lines. Around the central motif are undulating leaves, also containing thin garlands with semi-abstract flowers and leaves, some rendered with thin, diagonal, black stripes, flowers made up of paisley shapes, and bundles of scrolling paisley leaves, most of them containing semi-abstract flowers and leaves, on a clear ground with branches with semi-abstract flowers and leaves. This design would have likely been used for wallpapers or printed textiles for garments or furniture.
