Bowl
Marie Zimmermann American
The work of Marie Zimmermann was admired and celebrated during her lifetime, and it continues to attract attention today. Although trained in painting and sculpting, she was primarily a metalworker, who liked to say that she made "everything from tiaras to tombstones." This flared bowl is patinated in a pale rosy red, which is somewhat unusual in Zimmermann’s work. Other examples of her copper vases exhibit a more brilliant red, possibly inspired by Asian ceramics, which was a popular color in French Art Deco design.
