On loan to The Met
This work of art is currently on loan to the museum.Reedy apprenticed under John Bonewitz in Womelsdorf, later moving with him to Pine Grove where they jointly established a gun shop in about 1808. This is one of a small number of surviving signed rifles by Reedy. Its raised carving reflects Bonewitz’s influence, while also demonstrating Reedy’s skill and individuality as a craftsman.
