The flowers of Art Nouveau are attenuated and languorous. The tulip was a special favorite of the era, encouraging the stretched stems and torpid blossoms that nod downward in a melancholy heaviness. Thus, the flower resembles the Art Nouveau whiplash form that turns back on itself.
