This edition of the Transcendentalist's 1865 travelogue features a heavily gilded cover by Armstrong and illustrations by Clifton Johnson. Her stained glass approach is apparent in the symmetrical, vertical emphasis combined with the strong outlining of each compartmentalized section of cranberry plant decoration.
