Like Calderon's Prisoner, this book uses two-tone textured stamping to create a dynamic book cover design. Harry Weston Van Dyke’s (not to be confused with Henry Van Dyke of the blue cloth series who is a different author) historical study was published to coincide with the opening of the Panama Canal. Celebrating the Latin American countries, it includes black-and-white illustrations and a foldout map of South America.
