Interior of Jewelry Box

Photographer Harry Burton British
1926–30
Not on view
Harry Burton’s responsibilities included documenting the context of finds from the tomb of Tutankhamun, including the interiors of boxes. In the photograph here, several jewelry items have already been removed and this image captures a lower layer. Visible at the top left is a crouching baboon, which is part of an elaborate pectoral. One can also see the alphanumeric system used to keep track of the objects: 267 for the box and L for the twelfth object inside it.
