D. Chaikovs'kyi, who wrote under the pseudonym Dans'kyi, was a journalist and political activist from Ukraine. In his survivor’s narrative, written in Ukranian and published in Munich in 1946, Dans'kyi describes life and work in Auschwitz. The illustrations are by Edvard Kozak (1902–1990), a well-known Ukrainian painter, caricaturist, writer, and editor.
