Moore’s belief that inspiration for silver design could come from every medium would have made this book an irresistible addition to his library. With one hundred chromolithograph plates, it provides an historic survey of predominantly European textiles from the early Christian era to the nineteenth century. Dupont-Auberville was a banker and collector of porcelain and textiles whose textile collection was exhibited at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris in 1880.
