Even without any facial features, Stieglitz, hands in pockets, is identifiable by his long black coat and wild shock of hair, which de Zayas exaggerated for humorous effect. The same figure was used in an ad for Camera Work (April 1910), where it was paired with a short text. Like the original drawing, the printed version utilizes the white space around the figure to emphasize the curvature of his pose.
