A Persian Ambassador
Jacques Vigoureux - Duplessis French
Not on view
In this fanciful scene, the Persian ambassador, Muhammad Reza Beg, stands at a carpet-draped balcony flanked by members of his entourage. Louis XIV’s 1715 reception of the Persians, held in the Hall of Mirrors, was modeled on the great embassy of Siam, which Vigoureux depicted in a companion painting.
