Hunting Costume
Tailor: Le Duc French
Not on view
Among the future King of Sweden’s entertainments at Versailles in 1771 were two hunting excursions with Louis XV, on February 16 and 23, for which he received this fashionable French hunting costume. The uniform, a design worn by all who hunted with the king, is similar to one presented to Christian VII of Denmark in 1768. The gift so impressed Gustav that he immediately wrote about it in a letter to his mother.
