1980年代末、シュトゥルートは、消費者物資とマスコミの扇動に象徴される文化の中にあって、芸術はその進路を見失ったと感じました。その頃制作されたこの作品は、彼の作品のイメージを象徴するだけでなく、美術館や教会、その他の「美の聖堂」で美術品を鑑賞する人々を撮影し、最も有名となった大判カラー写真シリーズの草創期の作品でもあります。個人同士の集まりを撮影しており、血縁関係がなくとも共通の目的で集っているという点で、この作品は家族の肖像画とも言えます。現代社会のニーズのために過去を救済する修復師の役割は、シュトゥルート自身のものでもあります。
