This artwork was restituted in December 2023. It is no longer in the museum’s collection.この像は、現存するアンコール出土の金属像のなかで最も保存状態のよいものです。宮廷での信仰慣習と関連したヒンズー神の金属彫像数体のうちのひとつとして、カンボジアとタイ北東部のクメール領で発掘されました。印相は典型的なものではなく、象徴的な品も持たないため、どの神であるかが容易には特定できませんが、擬人化されたシヴァではないかと考えられています。これはクメール美術ではまれな様式ですが、宮廷の聖所に安置された偶像であるとともに支配者の父祖の像という、二重の役割があった可能性があります。
