五角形のスピネット

ウルビーノ公爵夫人エレナ・デラローベレのために作られたこのスピネットは、寄木細工、彫刻、塗装、象嵌細工による精緻な装飾が施されています。鍵盤の張り出し棚には神話の人物の彫刻があり、鍵盤の横にはドイツ人の職人によると思われるイルカの象嵌細工があります。鍵盤の上と響孔の周りの対称的な透かし細工は、ゴシック様式の繊細な図案です。鍵盤の上に彫られた銘は、「私は黄金に飾られ素晴らしい音色でいっぱい。徳のない御方はさわってはなりません」と訳すことができます。最古の鍵盤楽器であるこのスピネットは現在でも弾くことができ、カラスの羽軸で青銅の弦を鳴らすため、琵琶のような音がします。
