この見事な一対のケトルドラムは、グレート・ブリテン及びアイルランドの国王でハノーバー選帝侯だったジョージ3世の護衛隊ためにハノーバーで作られ、その紋章が施されています。17 世紀から19 世紀まで、このような儀式用の太鼓は、王室の騎馬行進でトランペット奏者の伴奏をともない、騎乗奏者が演奏しました。貴金属目当てで多くが溶かされたため、現存するのはわずか数対で、ハノーバー朝イギリス国王(1714–1901 年)のために作られた4対のうち、これが最古の作品です。演奏中に太鼓の下部を覆った、同時に作られた赤い垂れ幕も現存しています。
