シトハトホルユネト妃の胸飾り

エジプトの宝飾品製作は中王国時代に最盛 期を迎え、センウセレト2 世の治世に作られたこの胸飾りはこの時期の最高傑作のひとつに数えられます。375個の色とりどりの半貴石の小片が金の七宝で象嵌され紋章 的意匠を構成し、両脇にシェンと呼ばれる支配権の象徴を握った２羽の太陽のハヤブサが 配されています。ハヤブサとその頭上のコブラの尾に吊るされたふたつのアンク(生命) の象形文字の間に、センウセレト2 世の名前が記されています。その真下には永遠の神ヘフがパームヤシの枝(「年月」の意の象形文字)を持ち、ヘフの肘にかけられた紐からオタマジャクシ(「10万」の意の象形文字)がぶら下がっています。
