가이우스(일명 칼리굴라)황제 흉상
이 훌륭한 칼리굴라 황제 흉상은 증조부인아우구스투스를 위해 제작된 공식 초상화 양식을 따름으로써 율리우스-클라우디우스왕조의 통일과 연속성을 강조합니다. 뿐만 아니라, 조각가는 이 작품에서 칼리굴라의 개성을 표현하였습니다. 당당하게 고개를 돌리고 있는 자세와 굳게 다문 가는 입술은 그의 악명 높은 자만과 잔인함을 암시하는 것 같습니다. 칼리굴라가 군림했던 짧은 기간은 28세의 나이로 그가 암살당함으로써 막을 내리고, 그 후 그의 많은 초상 조각은 파괴되었거나 다른 조각상으로 다시 제작되기도 하고, 티베르 강에 던져지기도 하였습니다.
