사람머리 형상을 한 날개 달린 사자상
이 날개 달린 사자상은 님루드 소재아슈르나시르팔 2세의 왕궁 입구 및 출입구에 설치되어 악으로부터 왕을 수호하고, 모든 출입자들에게 강한 인상을 주고자 했던 날개 달린 짐승 형상의 대형 석상 중 하나였습니다. 이 석상의 뿔 달린 모자는 고대 근동의 신을 나타냅니다. 이 사자상의 다섯 개의 다리는 정면에서 보면 확고하게 서 있는 자세로 보이지만 측면에서 보면 앞으로 걸어가는 것처럼 보이게 합니다. 따라서 이 사자상은 두 각도에서 보아야 완전해지며, 이로 인해 두 시점의 초자연적인 수호력을 표현합니다.
