人首翼狮雕像

这头翼狮挺立在亚述纳西拔二世位于尼姆鲁德的宫殿里，是在宫殿入口和门廊摆放的巨型石雕翼兽之一，其目的是为了给国王辟邪，也为给所有进入宫殿的人留下深刻印象。雕像头顶的角状王冠是整个古代近东神祗的典型造型。这头翼狮有五条腿，所以从正面看时它笔直站立，从侧面看时，它却在向前迈步。无论从哪个角度欣赏，这尊翼狮像都是完整的，其寓意在于它可展现出全方位的超自然保护力量。
